I have RRMS which effects my balance, flexibility and moods. I was first diagnosed in February 2003 and was an occasional recreational Cannabis user, seeing and experiencing no ill side effects. Initially, I used it to stay calm and get a good nights rest. I stopped using for some months as I tried anti-depressants prior to my marriage but it left me an emotionless waste of space. When I think of my wedding day, I am left with no emotions and that is certainly not the way it was meant to be. I stopped taking antidepressants and suffered mood swings which I alleviated successfully with Cannabis.
The more I looked into the medicinal qualities the more frustrated I became. The public are not being told the facts and are left worrying about their children while describing Cannabis as a "gateway drug". All medicines have potentials and that is no mystery. What I intend to do is raise the profile of our medicinal use so that the public is aware of our plight and that we are using Cannabis successfully to relieve our illnesses. Cannabis could be helping many of the public and they need to be informed of that choice too. If I can walk 13.1 miles with a smile on my face, completely free of pain then that alone is my argument for legalising Cannabis. So few people are willing to stand up and speak out but I feel driven to do this for all those left suffering in this nation. It may put me in bed for months but I am willing to take that chance because every chance to publicise this problem must be embraced. My training is not going according to plan but I already know I can walk that distance. At the moment I'm not walking fast enough but this will change on September 30 2007 in Newcastle. There will be in excess of 30,000 participants and that many people give off a lot of motivation. My costume is being designed by a local company who are making every effort to support me even with regards to cost etc. I will wear a huge leaf on my head and another over my torso. The costume is designed to be light, un-restricting and cost effective. It will also be robust enough to make an appearance at other events. I am sure there will be many. Thank you for taking the time and supporting all of us as we fight for an equal Britain. XXX |
