This went to BBC Radio 4 today in preparation for a programme dicussing The Cannabis Trade. Listen at 8PM on Thursday. [ Winifred Robinson tracks the movement of cannabis, from the Vietnamese operators illegally growing massive quantities in Britain to the boarding schools where heads claim it is destroying young lives. ]
Humedi Cannabis Contaminants ConcernI am sending this email in response to the You And Yours program last year concerning the arrest of THC4MS and also my concern for the growing problem of contamination.
I suffer from MS and have been successfully treating myself with Cannabis for two years. Two years ago Pharmaceautical medication left me unable to walk 50 yards and, since using just Cannabis, I was able to walk the Great North Run, raising £1000 for a children's charity. It has even put me in the position to consider working part time from home. This would have been impossible had I carried on using conventional medications. Our government is denying people the opportunity to re-enter society and this is only part of this very complex and tragic situation.
The main reason for my correspondence is contamination. Children and Medical users are being exposed to dangerous and unregulated chemicals as dealers try to compensate for recent police crack downs.
Soap Bar contaminants: beeswax, turpentine, milk powder, ketamine, boot polish, plastic, glues, animal turds and more.
Grit Weed Contaminants: ground glass particles, industrial etchant spray, sugar, sand and micro contaminants to name but a few.
We are already seeing kids with blisters on their tongues and lips with coughs more fitting for a long term heavy smoker. Dealers are trying to disguise the Grit now by dipping it in what seems to be industrial floor wax which is burning lungs and sinuses. Medical users are having to cope with contamination and loss of essential benefit money as they are ripped off on a daily basis.
Prohibition is the most effective way too increase harm. Why have we forgotten lessons learned during alcohol prohibition in the US where 500,000 people died and even more were blinded or suffered internal injury? Current laws are allowing this to happen and now more people are growing their own to avoid contamination. This is exactly what the government is trying to prevent but are unwittingly encouraging.
We have been telling the government of the contamination problem for two years now but to no avail. They are clearly not concerned for the health and well being of the young and the unwell as well as recreational users. There is no cure for childhood innocence or MS but there is a cure for public ignorance and complacency. This is a disaster waiting to happen and I hope the BBC will lead the way in publicising this as most of Britain is now contaminated with Grit and Soap. This is no longer about civil liberty but about the very lives of people just trying to escape our stressful society.
Kindest Regards
